Anonymous diary of a crew member on a steamship, possibly the May V. Neville, transporting cargo (mainly cattle) and passengers (including, at one point, Gen. Máximo Gómez) between New York, Cuba, Mexico, and the Bahamas. Entries consist mainly of comments on the other crew members and passengers as well as events that happened on board the ship and in port. On page following last diary entry: "October 9, 1903. Received of Capt. J.W. Hawley cheque for $164.12 on account earnings 'May V. Neville.'" Brief log of financial transactions on back flyleaf.
